Indian smartphone maker announces cheapest phone ever

Indian smartphone maker Ringing Bells today announced the world’s most affordable smartphone, priced at INR 251 (NRs. 400).

Dubbed the Freedom 251, the smartphone comes with a 4-inch IPS display with 540 x 960 qHD resolution. It is powered by an unspecified quad-core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz, paired with 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone includes 8GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded thanks to a microSD card slot.

As expected, the smartphone isn’t very impressive on the imaging front. It features a 3.2MP autofocus camera at the back and a VGA snapper on the front for taking selfies.

Other key specs of the Freedom 251 include a 1450mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G network support. The smartphone will be available for booking starting tomorrow and is expected to go on sale starting later this week via the official website.
