Namrata Shrestha

Namrata Shrestha (born 14 June 1985) is a beautiful model and a talented actress of Nepal. She is well known for her role in the romantic film Sano Sansar released in 2008, “Mero Euta Sathi Cha” and her appearance in various music videos. Model turned actor Namrata Shrestha is one of the few popular celebrities from Nepal. She started her career with theatre acts and modeling. From modelling, she started acting in short movies and Music Videos. Soon, she became of the most popular faces behind Music Videos.

Namrata debuted her movie career from Alok Nembang’s “Sano Sansar” on 2008, where she played the lead role of Reetu. After Sano Sansar’s Nepal release raised her profile, she was cast for Mero Euta Saathi Cha which was produced by Sudarshan Thapa and made a huge hit in 2009. She appeared in two movies in 2010 First Love in a cameo and in HIV Aids Awareness which was about the awareness of night life in Kathmandu. She also debuted in her first theater called Jalpari which is based on the play of Lady From the Sea.

In September 2008 a video scandal was released and that happened right after a few days of the release of her second movie “Mero Euta Saathi Chha.” She was involved with DJ Taantrik in short sex video clip which was rumoured to be distributed by DJ Taantrik’s wife. The sex scandal forced her to remain in hiding for a few months before she started acting again in her next movies First Love and Purple Days.

Beside movies, she also hangs out at her own restaurant called Attic in Lazimpat, Kathmandu.

In January of 2015, two movies were released which featured Namrataa in lead role. One Soul Sister which was her home production and another Sambodhan, directed by Hemraj BC. Soul Sister was an art movie about Soul and spirit, while Sambodhan is a movie about serial killer and fight against corruption where he played as news repoter of Kantipur media.
